Janson Coffee – Alpes 1015 – Natural Gesha
This remarkable Gesha coffee comes from the Los Alpes section of Finca Janson, a family-run estate in the Volcán region of Chiriquí, Panama. Grown at an elevation of 1,600–1,800 meters above sea level, the Alpes 1015 lot benefits from the area’s rich volcanic soils, cool mountain breezes, and pristine microclimate, which together produce exceptional cup quality.
After harvest, only the ripest cherries were meticulously handpicked and sorted to ensure optimal density and maturity. The coffee was then processed using the natural method: whole cherries were laid out to dry slowly on raised beds for approximately 20–25 days, allowing the sugars and fruit notes to intensify. Careful turning and monitoring ensured even drying and preserved the coffee’s bright, clean character.
Cup profile:
An expressive and fruit-forward Gesha with layers of ripe red berries, tropical fruit, and subtle floral tones. Expect notes of raspberry, strawberry, and mango, with hints of jasmine and a touch of sweet rum, finishing long and clean.
Body & Acidity:
-
Body: Syrupy, velvety
-
Acidity: Bright and wine-like, balanced by deep fruit sweetness
Recommended brew method:
Best enjoyed as a filter coffee—V60, Kalita, or Chemex—where its vibrant fruit complexity and elegant aromatics can fully shine.
