La Loma – Sánchez Family – Washed Geisha (4FSR Lot)
From El Progreso, Montelíbano, Las Nubes, and Las Veranas, the Sánchez Family presents their Geisha Washed Lot 4FSR, cultivated at the foothills of the Peña Blanca mountain range, bordering the municipalities of Acevedo and Pitalito. The farm, officially named Las Veranas, represents the family’s most recent project and is surrounded by more than 200 hectares of forest reserve at altitudes ranging from 1,500 to 1,750 meters above sea level, where the climate averages 22°C.
This unique Geisha, cultivated under rich forest canopy, is the result of a transformative effort in the Sánchez family’s coffee journey.
The process begins with careful cherry selection at optimal Brix levels, followed by flotation to remove defective cherries. After depulping, the coffee undergoes anaerobic fermentation for 24 hours at 22–23°C, and then a further 56–60 hours of controlled fermentation. Once fermentation is complete, the parchment coffee is thoroughly washed to remove mucilage. Drying takes place first under the sun for 3–4 days, and then continues for 22–32 days under canopy, ensuring an even and stable profile.
Cup profile:
An elegant washed Geisha with floral clarity, bright citrus, and sweet stone fruit layers. Expect notes of jasmine, lemongrass, peach, and honey, with a crisp, clean finish that reflects both terroir and processing mastery.
